Girl Power: Marilyn Monroe & Ella Fitzgerald

I owe Marilyn Monroe a real debt…it was because of her that I played the Mocambo, a very popular nightclub in the ’50s. She personally called the owner of the Mocambo, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she would take a front table every night. She told him - and it was true, due to Marilyn’s superstar status - that the press would go wild. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. The press went overboard. After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman - a little ahead of her times. And she didn’t know it.” - Ella Fitzgerald

I Fell In Love With This...Paula Andrea Pyle

"Music is the secret we must all evolve into! Art is the music of one's soul. We are born artists with the designated need/desire to connect and express our innate yearnings. To stifle that which is creatively instinctive is worse than dying a slow tortured death.

Music/Art/Drama arise out of an whirling instilled divine sensual energy flow: a sacred sexual vibrating swirling force which will and does find its exact defined manifestation. Distort, retard, or cripple it and man is no more than starved savage beast..."

The Colour Marriage

I stumbled across this picture in one of my favorite blogs popbee and fell in love with the warm and soft colours. These are the colours I initially wanted for this blog but...

There is something relaxing about this picture. The second I saw it the first thing I thought was "a bit of lace somewhere would complete it", but its still perfect. It paints such a clear scenery in my head. Or perhaps it's because winter is at the door.

The scenario in my head: someone having a lazy chilled day in their sweatpants walking around the house with socks and hair just everywhere... or maybe that's just in my head :)

Popbee used this picture for one of the competitions she ran on her site where one of her followers won a BlackBerry Torch. I like the colour.

A Word From Sir Jobs

No one wants to die, even people who want to go to Heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be. Because death is very likely the single best invention of life.
It’s life’s change agent; it clears out the old to make way for the new.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

If We Fall In Love

If we fall in love because someone makes us laugh,
what happens when we no longer find them funny?
If we fall in love because someone is beautiful,
what happens when that beauty fades?
If we fall in love because someone can provide for us,
what happens when they lose their wealth?
When you truly love someone, you can’t just find a reason. You just do, Because love defies all reasons!

Just A Thought!

The Dalai Lama when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:

Man.

Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.
