Birthday Wishlist: 18 July 2011

Music.
Photography.
Music Photography.
What does that even mean when you can't capture music visually.
I know what it means because I have painted that picture in my head.
Just because it hasn't been done or there's no logic sense to it doesn't mean it isn't possible.
I've always said that I see music as clear as I hear photography. Or maybe that's just me......
Unconventional. Let's go with that word for now. Let's say the picture I have in my head hasn't been captured as yet.

These are 2 of the most needed/wanted things in my life right now. A Nikon D3100 and Gemini mixing console. They could actually turn my life around. I know that for sure.

I'm hoping my sister will see this post and wake me up first thing Monday morning with a wrapped box and .....hold on, i wonder if she has this link. Oh well...

I'm turning 26 0n the 18th of July. Here's to more wisdom!

Mwah!

Oh Snap! 75 Lebogang Nkoane

Don't ask me why.
Don't ask me to explain.
Don't even ask me what's what here.

I don't know much about the little things on this photograph but I love how everything comes together as one.
I love how the Lion match box balances out the dominating blue.
I love how the very same nakedly spread out pieces on the table are simply what captured this piece.

I love it!

I personally call it 'The Mirror Image Of A Soul Exposed Camera'

I Fell In Love With This:

Look, I'm a winter baby and all but lately I've been waking up feeling like I want to pack my bags and run from winter. Its been so brutal to my skin (and weight, tltl). I've had a picture in my head of where I'd love to escape to but its never been this clear. I came across this breath taking simple sparse-like picture and had my Aha! moment. This is where I'd like to run and hide to. *sigh*

Any who... let me catch up with my deadlines before I'm unable to pay off my September holiday in Cape St. Francis with my lovely angel, Noni.

This scenery/picture wouldn't be complete without some Cinematic Orchestra playing in the background. *sigh*

love, peace, relaxation and happiness from me to you :)

Eye See Music: Flying Lotus Lovers Melt 2 Mixtape

Today I woke up feeling way too mellow. I mean, it is Friday after all. What better way to bid this week farewell than to plug in some FlyLo. Listened to Tea Leaf Dancers, Galaxy In Janaki, MmmHmm, Slow It Down and Fall In Love (Dilla Tribute). I figured I check what he's been up to (brainfeedersite.com) and came across his Lovers Melt 2 Mixtape. A summer vibe-out mix of jazz, funk, hip-hop and electronic. Whatever you want to call it, its all there. A brilliant follow up from his first Lovers Melt Mixtape Stone Throw Records urged him to put together. The first one had no track-listing, not sure about this one. Two reviews were enough to get me excited about this offering.

To check out the first Lovers Melt Mixtape go to stonesthrow.com/podcast
To download the Lovers Melt 2 Mixtape go to stonesthrow.com or brainfeedersite.com

Here's to a great Friday and even better weekend.

Eye See Music: DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown

So,

Ms Badu has been taking her DJing skills to the "tip top baby". She's releasing her first self produced mixtape next month. Its said to be a different sound from her normal offering. I figured it makes sense to give us something different for the ear. Different name should automatically come with a different sound, i think. She's been heard saying "will melt any DJ’s face off"

Rumour has it she might be working with Flying Lotus. This is a beautiful surprise to my heart considering the line of producers she has worked with J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Madlib, and Sa-Ra Creative Partners, to name a few.

This is the perfect birthday gift for me (18th July).

Music man...

Eye See Music: J Davey

I stumbled across this cool L.A. based duo as I was scoping the net. I thought it was a shoot for a campaign or something cool like that but they are actually musicians. The lovely lady's name is Briana Cartwright but performs under the name Jack Davey and the eye friendly gentleman's name is Brook D'Leau. They make electric funk sound.

more on them here jdavey

Here's to a mellow weekend.

P.S. Music helps us be true to ourselves. For me at least.
